Blazing Angels Conductor

Good Omens, by Terry Pratchett & Neil Gaiman [Review]. Skip

buenos_presagios_0 accordance with good and accurate prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch (the only reliable book of prophecies, written in 1655, before she exploded), the end of the world will take place on Saturday. The next Saturday, to be exact. Just before the dinner.

armies of Good and Evil are gathering, Atlantis is resurgent, raining frogs and tempers are somewhat altered so ... everything seems to adjust to the Divine Plan. Not for fussy angel and a demon hustler who have lived off of the deadliest since the beginning of time and are not willing to accept so easily that the "end of civilization as we know it." Y. .. Oh dear! Looks like someone has removed Antichrist!

Good Omens Author: Terry Pratchett & Neil Gaiman
Year: 2009 (1990 added)
Pages: 393
Price: € 15

After reading Nation Pratchett, left me wanting another dose. I found this book by chance one day I went shopping at Vitoria, and I said: Pratchett and Gaiman's prose + and imagination? It must be mine! . And although I read mesecillo ago, here's the review (dedicated to Happy Brain!).

Originality and theme: We start

100%. Both authors are a waste of talent, and we face the days before the end of the world from a tender and ironic at a time. The main theme is the eternal war vs Sky. Hell, is even relegated due to reflections on Good and Evil, the existence of God, Fate and is well others play the role assigned to us. All this from a humorous tone ... might say. Perfect.

Characters:

A variety of characters, and indeed, the story is changing scene as the events they are happening. This I mean we do not have a pair of top and the other side, but each has its part of ownership. We can point to Adam, a boy of 11 who does not know who has the power to destroy the world in their hands, Aziraphale and Crowley, angel and devil, respectively, almost always friends and not so good or bad as they seem, the Four Horsemen of Revelation, Anathema Device, a descendant of the famous witch who has been ... a few more and the figure of Agnes Nutter with his book of prophecies 400 years ago, leading to the street all the bitterness.
usually well defined and more than one baby takes them, but I miss those details I like both. But being so plentiful and not particularly extensive book ... you can not ask for more.

Romance:

There is no such tragic love affair and happy then we are accustomed. In general there is little love throughout the book, except for a couple of little scenes and mild pulling for the final. If you seek love, not the best book, but has many other attributes that they make.

Narration and Description:

It's obvious that Pratchett's mastery with the pen is unique, has a very definite style that, although I like a lot, I finished hooking. With Gaiman also I have a relationship because I believe you have an imagination and a knack for inventing stories they would like more of a writer of best-sellers but, however, his manner of narration is a bit simplistic and childish. All this also appears in Good Omens, which is master and other parties a tad boring, so let's say engaging at times. The pace is rather slow at first, but then has a good action to the end. This is the section that has me loose a bit, as already mentioned.

Environment and History:

places us perfectly in the chaotic days before the End, where no one knows quite how to act or what is happening. Descriptions are not huge, but not required. The story is perfectly threaded, and has unexpected points, only I take the decision of the final battle "epic" and the last page itself is not finished like me, were not up to the rest of the story (but this is totally subjective).

Bottom Line: Recommended. Lightly covers topics important to the way we Pratchett and Gaiman shows the sweetness of the parts required, thus demonstrating that this pair of authors together is a guaranteed success. With good characters and master points, engaging but not over its irregular pace and in my opinion, could have taken more out of certain parts of the narrative, there is no doubt that this is a good book, which has an original story with humor and irony.

Note: 4 / 5
